The cross-Government Health Work and Well-being Strategy Unit is currently commissioning an external supplier to establish a National Centre for Working Age Health and Well-being.

The key aims of the National Centre are to:

  • support the Government in evidence based policy making in relation to the health and well-being of the working age population; and
  • support stakeholders to take actions to improve the health and well-being of the working age population.

The National Centre is intended to be the country’s leading independent and authoritative health, work and well-being observatory. The National Centre should be in place from this autumn, and its output should include:

  • development of a comprehensive best practice database
  • marketing and communication of high quality collated research
  • dissemination of data and specific papers to key user groups
  • enunciation of clear, evidence-based guidelines to support the implementation and evaluation of policy and interventions.
