If this privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures you are always aware of the information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.

Data Protection Act

Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. You have a right to access your personal data and change any inaccuracies.

We use leading technologies to safeguard our data, and strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it.

We will ensure that any information we obtain and use will always be held, used and transferred in compliance with all applicable data protection rules.

We may give information to certain other organisations, as the law allows, for example to prevent or detect crime, to protect public funds in other ways and to use in research or statistics. We will not give information about you to anyone outside our department unless the law allows us to. Other organisations may include other government departments, local authorities, and private-sector bodies.

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions acting through Health Work Wellbeing is the Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.

What information do we collect?

We collect three kinds of information from visitors to workingforhealth.gov.uk:

  • feedback (through the Contact Us form)
  • personal data (through Evaluation tool for employers registration form)
  • site usage information, from cookies and log files

Our website does not enable our visitors to communicate with other visitors or for them to post information to be accessed by others.

Use of cookies

We use persistent cookies for collecting user information.

As many websites do, we may use cookies to improve the service of this website. “Cookies” are small text files which are stored on the hard drive of your computer.

Cookies are pieces of data created which save and retrieve information when you visit some websites. We use the information to see how users respond to our site and online government advertising. They do not give us any personal information about you and cannot be used to identify an individual user.

Use of log files

Log files allow us to record visitors' usage of the site, e.g. IP address, numbers of pages viewed, length of time spent on site. We use this information to enable us to enhance the site. The data we gather in this way does not contain any personal information.

Use of Google analytics

The workingforhealth.gov.uk website uses Google Analytics to help analyse how users use the site. This analytical tool uses 'cookies', which are text files placed on your computer, to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted to Google. This information is then used to evaluate visitors’ use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity.

Feedback and questions via Contact Us form

If you provide feedback on our website we will only use it to develop and improve the site. We will keep the actual feedback for twelve months after which it will be deleted but analysis of feedback may be kept.

We may also need to pass data to a third party to answer your questions. Once we have replied to you, we keep a record of your message for audit purposes.

Uses we make of the information

We will not pass on your personal information to anyone else for marketing purposes without asking you first.
